A technical SEO checklist for modern JavaScript sites

A technical SEO checklist for modern JavaScript sites

By Magnetic Clouds Engineering

JavaScript frameworks are no longer an SEO risk, provided they are set up properly.

  • Rendering — serve fully rendered HTML. In the Next.js App Router pages are server-rendered or static by default; avoid client-only data fetching for content you want indexed.
  • Metadata — a unique title and description per page, canonical URLs, and Open Graph and Twitter cards.
  • Structured data — JSON-LD for Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList, Article, Product and FAQPage where they apply.
  • Crawlability — an automatic XML sitemap, a simple robots.txt that never blocks CSS or JavaScript, and no broken links or redirect chains.
  • Performance — aim for LCP under 2.5 s and INP under 200 ms on mobile; Core Web Vitals affect rankings and conversions.
  • Internal linking — build topic clusters with a pillar page and supporting articles that link to each other.
