Every project we ship starts from the same well-understood foundation. This website is built on it too.

Next.js 16

Turbopack is the default bundler, builds are much faster and the React Compiler is stable. Server Components keep bundles small, and Server Actions give us type-safe mutations without a hand-written API layer.

Prisma 7 with driver adapters

Prisma 7 replaced its native query engine with a lean TypeScript client and driver adapters. Using the MariaDB adapter gives us a smaller deployment, faster cold starts and full control over the connection pool.

MariaDB

Fast, proven, open source and available on practically every Plesk server. With sensible indexes and pooled connections it comfortably handles millions of requests a day.

Deployment on Plesk

We deploy with Git and a deploy.sh script that runs migrations and the build, while a small server.js is started by Phusion Passenger for zero-downtime restarts.

Takeaways: keep the stack boring, measure everything and automate deployments so a release is a non-event.
